Limerick Dragons are a group of breast cancer survivors (along with their family and friends) based in Limerick City. Our dragon boat is 40 foot long and weighs half a tonne. We paddle on the River Shannon. We also offer our members Nordic walking and also kayaking in partnership with Limerick Kayaking Academy.
We are now purchasing an Irish-made, specially designed trailer to move the dragon boat. We are hopeful that with this trailer we can travel to other towns in Ireland to take part in regattas with other groups and also to travel to different parts of the Shannon with the boat.
We are in the very fortunate position as a club to be in receipt of a Sports Capital Grant in the sum of €7,258 through the National Lottery/Dept. Transport, Tourism & Sports capital grants scheme to assist with purchasing our trailer.
However, we have a €5,000 shortfall on the purchase of the trailer and housing it safely.
We would be most grateful for any support you can give us, no matter how small. Every euro helps.
Our mission is to live well after cancer and we will continue to strive to support as many people after cancer as we can through our Club.
